OMA Priority Insurance Program (OPIP)

The OMA Priority Insurance Program (OPIP) has been negotiated on your behalf by the Ontario Medical Association with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care which will provide $25 million annually to the OMA to fund certain benefits for eligible physicians.

Under OPIP you have a 90 day limited time offer upon completing your residency program to obtain coverage with no proof of good health. This benefit is NOT meant to replace the Essentials Offer, but a little thank you for practicing in Ontario.

The OPIP plan provides eligible physicians with one of five plan options:

OPTION A: Health Spending Account (HSA): ($430 per year)

OPTION B: Extended Health Care Insurance (EHC)

OPTION C: Critical Illness Insurance (CI): ($50,000)

OPTION D: CI ($50,000) and HSA: ($350 per year)

OPTION E: CI ($50,000) and EHC
