OMA Physician and Professionals Health Program

The Physician and Professionals Health Program (PHP) of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is a program designed by physicians for physicians and their families. The PHP provides prompt advice and support to physicians, residents and students who feel troubled or at risk, their families and concerned colleagues. Information and advice, preliminary assessment, intervention co-ordination, referral for counseling and clinical services, recovery monitoring, case management, education and prevention services and advocacy are all components of a very comprehensive service.

Service begins with information, advice and help for individuals contacting the program. PHP clinical staff will refer clients to third party clinical resources for assessment and/or treatment to assist them with problems related to stress, burnout, marital and family issues, conduct or behavioural problems, sexual and boundary issues, gambling, mental health, substance abuse and substance dependence.

For more information on the services, call the Confidential Toll-Free line at 1-800-851-6606.
