Locums

Locums may be offered through HealthForceOntario, through associations or societies, or individually, by communities or individual doctors. A few of these programs are listed below:

PAIRO Transition to Practice Service

PAIRO can assist you in finding locum opportunities in underserviced communities in Ontario through PAIRO Transition to Practice Service and HFOJobs website. This is a service that can be utilized throughout your locum placements.

Rural Family Medicine Locum Program, Ontario Physician Locum Programs

For more information contact:
HealthForceOntario Marketing and Recruitment Agency
163 Queen St. East
Toronto ON,  M5A 1S1
Email: locum@healthforceontario.ca
Tel: 416 862-2200 x 3 or Toll Free: 1 800 596-4046 x 3

Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC)

The SRPC is working with the licensing authorities towards developing a portable locum licence. Until this happens, you will likely have to apply for full licensure in whatever province you wish to practise.

For information on doing locums in Ontario and across Canada visit the SRPC web site.

Respite Locum Tenens Program and Urgent Locum Tenens for Specialists

These locum programs assist designated underserviced communities in Ontario with temporary medical services to replace physicians on holidays, education leave, communities with severe shortage of physicians, etc. For more information visit the MOH web site or call (705) 564-7280.
