At all levels of university, hospital, and government, PAIRO has advocated for continued acknowledgment of the resident's role in medical education.

In the same way that residents learn within the apprentice/mentor model, residents also provide a great deal of teaching to undergraduate medical students within this model.

PAIRO will continue to ensure that this unique and valuable contribution is recognized in the face of any changes to the postgraduate system.

PAIRO also recognizes the residents role as learners and works to ensure an appropriate quality and balance of education in all training programs. To achieve this PAIRO actively participates in numerous committees dealing with educational issues in residency training programs.
