Transition to Practice

Connecting New Doctors and Communities

The Transition to Practice Service is a unique service designed to help senior residents find jobs across Ontario. Our goal is make sure that these jobs will meet your personal and professional needs.

The program focuses on you as an individual and starts with a one-on-one confidential meeting at your school early in your senior year. A range of topics can be discussed at the interview such as:

  • Permanent and Locum job opportunities
  • Payment Mechanisms
  • Signing Bonuses
  • Information Technology
  • Obtaining a Billing Number in Ontario
  • Obtaining a License to Practise in Ontario
  • Spousal/Partner/Family Support
  • Lifestyle Issues

Based on the information collected in this interview, we will develop a list of potential communities which suit your needs and then provide you this list and appropriate contact information. All PAIRO members are offered this service and spouses/partners are more than welcome to attend the on site interview.

Even after you graduate from residency the Transition to Practice Service will continue to work with you to arrange additional locums, get feedback on your experiences to help future residents, or help you find or change a permanent placement.

To view practice opportunities currently available in Ontario visit HFOJobs at www.healthforceontario.ca

To arrange an interview or find out more about the program, contact the PAIRO Transition to Practice Coordinator by email or by phone at 1-877-979-1183.
